Chapter Five
Hankyung woke up hours later, after returning home on the floor. He chuckled when he realized he had rolled off the bed. He looked around his room, trying to figure out how he had gotten there.
“Awake yet, sleepy head?” Hankyung swung around to find Donghae and Kibum standing at his door.
“Good morning,” he stood up and stretched. Donghae smiled, and pushed Kibum telling him to get some coffee. “No coffee for me,” Hankyung caught the last part of the sentence and headed for the bathroom. Donghae laughed and kissed Kibum before pushing him out of the room.
“Hankyung, Siwon says that he wants you in before eight today, and he already left. You’ll have to get used to waking up around six,” Donghae informed Hankyung as he sat on the couch that was in Hankyung’s room. “He also said that he wants you in his room most of the time, so you can file. He was very impressed with your filing skills yesterday, by the way.” Hankyung came out of the bathroom looking at his wardrobe which consisted of mostly suits and in one of the corners were his casual clothes. He randomly picked a suit and a tie with matching shoes and threw them on.
“What time is it?” Hankyung asked as he fixed his tie.
“30 minutes till 8,” Donghae looked up from his watch. Hankyung nodded, and headed out the door.
“Would you like breakfast?” Hankyung walked into the kitchen and began to cook a healthy breakfast.
“You might want to make some for Siwon as well, I’ve begun to notice he is looking a bit paler,” Donghae sat down at the counter. Hankyung looked over his shoulder and nodded, before going over to the cabinet and getting two lunch boxes.
“Would you like a lunch box, Donghae? Kibum?” Hankyung asked them as he filled the two lunch boxes with lunch.
“No, Kibum and I have a date for lunch today,” Donghae smiled and kisses Kibum. Hankyung looks at them for a minute, before turning back to packing lunches. Donghae and Kibum began their own conversation, Hankyung catching only bits and pieces. He looked at the lunches and frowned, he had placed Siwon’s lunch messy. He sighed and fixed it, when he was finished; he had noticed that Donghae and Kibum had stopped their conversation.
“Is there something wrong?” Hankyung asked as he wiped his hands on the towel.
“That smells really good,” Donghae answered, and stared at the leftovers in the wok. Hankyung laughed and handed Donghae and Kibum a plate, then filled it was the leftovers. “Ahh, thank you, Hankyung,” Donghae smiled and nudged Kibum to start eating. Hankyung smiled, and looked at the clock; he realized he only had five minutes before he had to be in Siwon’s office. His eyes widen and turned to Donghae.
“Donghae, I have five minutes left,” he began to panic. “What do I do?”
“Calm down, first of all. Call his driver; he’ll take you to work. I have to stop by my family’s house, with Kibum,” Donghae explained, and Hankyung rushed to call the driver. He panicked he couldn’t be late on this second day of work already.
The driver arrived soon later, and Hankyung rushed out the door, grabbing his things and the two lunches. He waved bye to Donghae and Kibum before nearly tripping over the front step, causing Donghae and Kibum to laugh. He turned and glared at them before rushing out to the car. Getting into the car, he begged the driver to go as fast as he could to get the Choi Empire. However it still wasn’t enough, with the driver speeding and him running up to Siwon’s office, he was late by ten minutes. He pouted and went to go knock on Siwon’s door, however before he would know a man came out of the office with Siwon. Siwon looked at Hankyung before shaking hands with the other man.
“Thank you Mr. Choi, we won’t start failing you now,” he smiled, and another man appeared from the office, wrapping his arms around the first one.
“Eeteuk, KangIn, let’s hope not,” he nodded at them before going back into his office.
The two men turned to leave, when they noticed Hankyung with his hands on his knees trying to catch his breathe. The first man, exclaimed, “KangIn, go get water for him.” He nodded and went to get water for Hankyung, when the first man guided Hankyung to sit. “Are you okay…”
“Han…Han…Hankyu…ng,” Hankyung answered as the man ‘KangIn’ handed him a cup of water. “Thank you,” he drank to until his thirst was filled.
“I’m Park Jungsu, but please call me Eeteuk, and May I ask what your relation to Siwon is?” the man asked.
“I’m his personal assistant and housekeeper,” Hankyung looked at the time. “I’m still late,” he looked at Eeteuk and KangIn. “Please excuse me,” He grabbed his things and went to Siwon’s door, opening it, only to be hit with silence.
“Come in, Hankyung,” Siwon called for him, in a cold voice. Hankyung shivered and closed the door behind him.
“Yes. Mr. Choi,” Hankyung stood at the door waiting to be called over.
“You’re late, I don’t accept lateness,” Siwon looked at Hankyung over his fingers. Hankyung struggled to find words to say, however Siwon put his hand up. “I want you to file those, and run errands for the other board heads. That’s all, get out.” Siwon turned his chair around and looked at the city.
Hankyung quietly moved towards the table, placing Siwon’s lunch and grabbing the files, before running out of the room, as quietly as possible. Hankyung closed the door behind him, and leaned against the door. He looked at Donghae’s desk and on the counter there was a piece of paper, telling him where to go first, it was Lee Hyukjae, head of the visual department. He stared at the rest of the paper, and quickly headed for the fifth floor. As he stepped onto the floor two men had stepped off.
“Ah, Hankyung, am I correct?” he asked. Hankyung looked at him and nodded slowly. “Don’t tell me you’ve forgot me already, I’m Jung Yunho, and this is my finacee Kim JaeJoong.” Hankyung gapped and quickly bowed at the two men. Yunho and JaeJoong laughed, “No need to bow, Hankyung. Is Siwon in?”
“He is,” Hankyung told me quickly and quietly.
“He’s just like JaeJoong, quiet, quick, and looks quite smart,” Yunho commented. Hankyung smiled, being compared to the Kim JaeJoong was a major thing.
JaeJoong smiled, “Off to work you go then, Hankyung. Let’s not get Siwon mad at us for stopping you.” He patted Hankyung’s back and Hankyung walked to the elevator, going to the fifth floor.
“Nice kid,” Yunho said as the elevator door closed.Hankyung smiled at himself inside the elevator, he had just been compared with JaeJoong. He sighed to himself in happiness. Kim JaeJoong was a big star, starring in big movies, and ran his business with Yunho, but keeping enough time for his private life, so professional. Not only that, he had eight other sisters, and parents, who widely accepted Yunho into their family, they were already practically married to JaeJoong’s parents. Hankyung sighed, wishing he had someone like that, he stepped off the elevator and went to look for Lee Hyukjae.
“Umm, could you tell me where I can find Lee Hyukjae?” Hankyung had stopped Eunhyuk.
“I’m Hyukjae, but I go by Eunhyuk, Siwon send you down to help me?” he asked as he led Hankyung to his office.
“Yeah,” Hankyung nodded, and looked at the messy office Eunhyuk had. Eunhyuk turned to Hankyung, and noticed that he was looking around his room.
He laughed, “Umm, it’s messy, but I’ll live.” Eunhyuk rubbed the back of his head.
“I’ll clean up later,” Hankyung smiled at Eunhyuk. “What would you like me to do?”
“Ahh, I need you to run this to the head of corrections, that’s Kim Ryeowook,” Eunhyuk handed him a portfolio. “He’s on the second floor,” Eunhyuk nodded, as he remembered.
“Okay,” Hankyung left the office and headed for the elevator, he stepped in and went to the second floor. There he looked for the Ryeowook, he frowned he had been walking in circles, yet he couldn’t find him.
“Are you lost?” Hankyung turned and find an innocent looking man, behind him.
“I’m looking for Ryeowook,” Hankyung looked at the portfolio.
“I’m Ryeowook, I’m sorry, I was looking for Eunhyuk,” he smiled at Hankyung. “if you could come back in ten minutes I need you to send this to Sungmin, he’s the head of international affairs. He should be on the twenty-ninth floor.”
“Sure,” Hankyung smiled and handed Ryeowook the portfolio. He then looked at his list, he figured there was no way, he could get to Yesung, who was on the twentith floor; so he decided to stay on Ryeowook’s floor and wait. He had found a chair and was sitting there, waiting for Ryeowook. He sighed, knowing he should’ve taken the files with him.
The rest of the day, was running errands. Around five o’clock he came back and filed the papers. Donghae had left early with Kibum, so he didn’t get to say goodbye. Lunch was skipped, and Hankyung was tired. Siwon, then came out of his office with a woman. Hankyung looked up, it was the same woman from before.
“He’s still here,” she looked at him with a dirty look.
“He works for me,” Siwon looked at Hankyung out of the corner of his eye. “When you are done with the files, I want you to take them to K&E Inc. The driver will take you.” Hankyung nodded, and went back to the files.
As the two left, Hankyung heard the woman speak, “he’s so… not Korean. When did you start hiring forigeners?” Hankyung’s head, hung in shame, as he went back to fiiling. Five minutes into filing, someone had called Donghae’s desk. Hankyung wasn’t sure if he should pick up, so he let it ring.
“I know someone is there, Donghae? Kibum? Hankyung?” Hankyung’s head picked up at the voice and he picked up the phone.
“Hello?” his soft voice rang into the phone.
“Hankyung! Is Siwon there, I need those files soon,” Eeteuk’s cheerful voice rang into Hankyung’s ear.
“I’m almost done,” Hankyung’s voice still soft, and Eeteuk picked it up.
“What’s wrong?” Eeteuk’s voice, now filled with worry.
“I’m almost done with the files, I’ll bring them over soon,” Hankyung quickly hung up the phone before Eeteuk could reply. He sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, before getting back to the last bit.
Twenty minutes later, Hankyung finished filing. He smiled and called the driver, asking him if it was okay if he could drive him to K&E Inc. Hankyung grabbed the files, his bag, and his sunglasses, and he headed for the elevator. He arrived just in time as the car pulled up to the front. He got in and asked the driver to take him to K&E Inc. The drive was silent but for Hankyung’s breathing. Driver looked back every now and then to make sure Hankyung was okay.
“Hankyung,” The driver stopped the car in front a large building. “We’re here.”
Hankyung woke up and smiled at the driver. “Thank you, if it’s okay. I’ll call you when I’m done.” The drvier nodded and Hankyung exited the car with his things and the files. Hankyung walked up to the building and was greeted by Eeteuk and KangIn, who had worried expressions on their faces.
“Hankyung!” Eeteuk jumped up and ran over to Hankyung, with KangIn quickly following.
“Here are you files,” he said as he covered a yawn.
“Hankyung, what time did you get to work?” Eeteuk asked.
“Around 8, I was late,” Hankyung thought.
“Did you eat lunch?” Eeteuk asked.
“No, I don’t remember stopping for lunch,” Hankyung rubbed the back of his head.
“Well, then we’re going to treat you to dinner, it’s about ten minutes to six,” Eeteuk looked at his watch and turned to KangIn. “Can Hankyung—“
“Of course,” KangIn smiled. Hankyung wanted to say something but was cut off by KangIn, who had put his hand up. “No aguring,” KangIn looked at his watch. “I need to meet with someone before dinner, you two can go ahead without me.”
“Okay,” Eeteuk smiled and went outside where his driver was. “Hankyung and I are going to dinner, could you take us to Inacai?” The driver nodded and opened the door for Eeteuk and Hankyung.
They reached the restaurant and there Hankyung and Eeteuk, or Eeteuk did most the talking. They ordered and a few minutes later KangIn arrived, joining them in dinner. After dinner, Hankyung pulled out his cell phone getting ready to call the driver.
“Hankyung, why don’t you stay at our place?” Eeteuk looked at Hankyung worrily.
“I’m fine,” Hankyung pestered a smile on his face, and returned to calling the driver.
“Well, then we’ll wait for with you until your drvier gets here,” Eeteuk insisted.
“If you must,” Hankyung mumbled, his eyes getting heavy, but he kept them open. Soon later the driver had arrived and Hankyung bid his goodbyes to Eeteuk and KangIn. The drive home, Hankyung had fallen asleep, leaning against the window. Reaching home, the driver had a difficult time waking him, but finally Hankyung woke up and apologized to the driver. He smiled and bid goodnight to the driver, and walked into the house. While taking off his shoes, he noticed a pair of red high heels, remembering that Lee Euiyun had wore them earlier that day when he had seen her. He shrugged it off, and walked over to the sofa. He placed his things on the table, and laid himself down. He rubbed his eyes, and fell asleep; missing the looks Siwon gave him as he came out of the kitchen. He walked over to the closest and pulled out a blanket, placing it over Hankyung, who curled up into the warmth. Siwon looked at him, then headed for the stairs for a night of looking over the files that he had Donghae pull up on Hankyung.
